NEOM: Oxagon Phase II dredging work set to commence this year
DEME, a Belgian company specialising in the field of offshore energy, dredging, marine infrastructure, and environmental works, will begin the cutter suction dredging work at Oxagon – the reimagined industrial city on the Red Sea within Saudi Arabia’s $500 bn futuristic city NEOM, later this year.
According to DEME, dredging and infra units have maintained a high activity-level in the Middle East mainly with focus on Saudi Arabia, UAE and Egypt. On its Saudi work, the Belgian group said this dredging work comes as part of its dry earth moving activities for the Phase Two of Oxagon.
Oxagon will integrate industry 4.0 with circular economy principles to create a clean manufacturing ecosystem. The city, which aims to be powered by renewable energy, will adopt these NEOM practices so that manufacturers can operate more efficiently, sustainably and profitably. Strategically located on the Red Sea coast near global shipping lanes, Oxagon is the ideal base for the factories of the future.
